Aimee's Story

Aimee Galicia Torres is a survivor of sexual abuse.  From the time she was 8 years old until she was 12, she was molested by a Catholic priest who was a longtime friend of her aunt.  At 17, she came forward and told her psychology teacher who happened to be the school minister.  This day forever changed the rest of her life.  That very day, Aimee underwent hours of questioning by the local police department as the suspect, Honesto Bismonte, was placed immediately in jail.  After a long interview, receiving scrutiny from the police department, Aimee was sent to undergo a psychological evaluation by a county psychologist.  However, to her surprise, when she was being escorted by two police officers, they admitted her into the hospital without her knowledge.  She was placed on a 51-50, hold, which means she legally must remain admitted for psychological evaluation for up to 72 hours.  At the time, her mother was unaware that this was being done to her daughter.  Not having eaten anything the whole time, Aimee had to wait until 2am before the psychiatrist was finally able to see her. Against her will, she was admitted into the hospital and received cruel treatment from the hospital staff where they drew blood from Aimee's arm only to rip a blood vessel which in turn caused it to bleed profusely.  It took over a month for her arm to heal. The psychiatrist recommended that Aimee be admitted to a local psychiatric facility. Her mother, unaware of her whereabouts, received word that Aimee was placed on a 51-50 and admitted into the psychiatric hospital.  There, more blood work was performed on Aimee and she lost 7lbs over night from the stress.  She attended group therapy with other suicidal victims and was treated as if she was the person that committed the crime.  After this ordeal, Aimee became estranged from a majority of her family. Since they came from a strict family heritage, they refused to believe the truth.

This inspired Aimee to write her award-winning short film, "Father, You Sinned."  "Father, You Sinned," received the 2006 Panavision's New Filmmaker Grant, which allowed Aimee to shoot on her beloved Panavasion motion picture film cameras.  The film was shot on 35mm and was screened and premiered live at the AMC Loews at Universal Citywalk at Universal City, CA.

When Aimee was 16, she fell into an abusive relationship with her boyfriend of 3 1/2 years.  He would physically abuse her and attempted to kill her on various occasions. Through the numerous years of psychological, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse Aimee has received, she decided to turn everything into a positive learning experience.  She wanted to show abused victims and survivors, that despite any obstacle, you can succeed.  Aimee is proud to say, that throughout it all, she has never smoked or taken any drug of any kind. "Just because horrible things happen in our lives, we must be strong to not let it get the best of us."

Aimee has been a strong advocate for victim's rights.  She is an avid supporter of RAINN (Rape, Abuse National Network), Rescue & Restore Victims of Human Trafficking, ACF Trafficking, SNAP (Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests), Perverted Justice and more.

Despite everything, Aimee has worked very hard to be on top.  "I want to be a true role model to people that have been through similar situations.  I want to show them that no matter what happens, you can conquer any obstacle. I am a firm believer that this is my purpose in life and that everything happens for a reason. This is my goal and destiny."

Since then, Aimee has formed her own film production company called Aimester Productions LLC.
